2015 FAL at On the Windy Side

MY 3RD QUARTER FINSH-ALONG 2015 LIST

It's time to link up my WIP list again.  I got ZERO quilts finished in Q1 and I totally missed the Q2 and deadline.

1. ANOTHER ANGLE - BABY QUILT

I decided to do a practice of this pattern, before cutting up my Pat Bravo Rapture fabric.  Glade I did, there are so many new things to learn when you're cutting angles! Its coming along now.

***************************************************************

2. STAR BRIGHT QUILT

I found a free pattern at swim, bike, quilt. I think It will be perfect for my Moonshine Charm Pack.  I really need to get a design board, my couch isn't big enough!

Testing out the color scheme on my EQ7

*****************************************************************

3.  BIG AND BOLD QUILT for Mom

I've been working really hard at getting this one done!

************************************************************

4.  MY FIRST QUILT

I hand pieced all but three of the blocks for this wall hanging.  I decided I would never get it done unless I machine pieced the rest...it's only been 14 years since I started it!  I've Been working on it lots in the last few weeks and I'm just waiting for the binding fabric to be delivered.

5.  MY FIRST KALEIDOSCOPE BLOCK

I saw a you tube video featuring Paula Nadelstern and fell in love with this technique! So I bought the books and lots of cool fabric and stared at it for weeks.  Read the books and read them again!  One day it hit me and I just "got it".  I've got it half done and now you can start to see the pattern of the kaleidoscope.  Can't wait to see it completed.

6.  KATE SPAIN GOOD FORTUNE QUILT

I finished the top to this quilt in two days and then I got the bright idea to do something cool on the back.  I always go 'BIG'....so I scoured flicker quilt photos and checked out some blogs and saw a quilt made with some hexies thrown around on the quilt and decided this is what I wanted to do.....but then the 'how' to do it hit!  Ugh!  so I decided to do the entire back in hexies....I've never sewn a hexie before! Well, I checked out some 'You Tube' tutorials, read some blogs and tried it out.  They're actually turning out pretty well.

***************************************************************

7. QUILT AS YOU GO STAR BLOCK QUILT

I saw this block patten in a book and decided I would try it out.  I bought a bunch of Kaffe Fassett quarters and I'm going to do a quilt as you go.  I've got some pretty white sashing with dots to join them all together.

************************************************************

8.  HALF HEXIE QUILT

This is the layout of a quilt i started in a class featuring Jenny Doan's half hexie template.  Only have two rows sewn. :-(

**************************************************************

9.  ANOTHER ANGLE QUILT

This quilt is from the American Patchwork and Quilting Magazine  The fabric is from Pat Bravo's Rapture Line.  Art Gallery Fabric it's like drugs for me....it feels so lovely I can't get enough!  I need...want...MORE!

10. SAMPLER QUILT by KATIE CLARK BLAKESLY

I love the vintage colors of this quilt. I had a really hard time picking out the right orange to use, so I bought them all. :-/

*************************************************************

11.  COTON & STEEL GRANNY SQUARES QUILT

I find making Granny Squares very relaxing.  I just need to find a fabric to use for the cornerstones.

************************************************************

12.  DAYSAIL GRANNY SQUARES

This is my take-a-long project for doctor visits, oil changes, flights...etc.  I'm making this one totally by hand.  It moves slowly, but give my something to sew when I don't have my machine.  I picked up the Daysail mini charm packs at  a charming village shop called Coast and Country Crafts and Quilts in Truro, England.  I was so excited they had bolts of Bonnie and Camille's Scrumptious fabric  which I've been trying to find everywhere in the states.  The owner of the shop was so happy I came to visit!!!!
.

13.  METRO MEDALLION

I started piecing this quilt and decided it needed more contrast.  I think the gray is perfect!

14.  BONNIE AND CAMILLE SWOON QUILT

MY FIRST FINISHED QUILT....EVER!!!!

Well, I finally finished something.
This quilt is for my grand niece who was born last November. Her grandmother got me interested in quilting. She sent me instruction  to make a nine patch, and I made a small doll size quilt, but never finished it. We'll this ones for you Lynne, RIP.  I know she'd be proud of me.

Back showing the free motion quilting I've learned this year.
